​​**Historic Catfishing Tournament Set to Make Waves in Vicksburg, MS**

**VICKSBURG, MS** – July 9, 2024 – The much-anticipated Bill Dance’s Mississippi River Monsters Megabucs Tournament is set to take place on July 27th and 28th in Vicksburg, MS, bringing together some of the best anglers in the world for a chance to win the largest prize in catfishing tournament history. With a total purse of $200,000, the stakes are higher than ever, making this event a must-see for fishing enthusiasts and the general public alike.

The festivities kick off with a "Meet the Anglers" block party on Thursday, July 25th at 6 PM, held at the River Walk Casino parking lot. This family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to meet the participants and enjoy music, food, and entertainment in a lively atmosphere.

On Friday, July 26th at 6pm, the excitement continues with a spectacular boat parade, showcasing the impressive fleet of tournament boats. The parade promises to be a visual treat for spectators and a great way to build anticipation for the competition.

The fishing competition begins on Saturday, July 27th on the Mississippi River, with anglers vying for the top prize of $100,000. The weigh-in will take place at 3 PM at the Vicksburg Convention Center, where attendees can witness the thrilling moment when the biggest catches of the day are revealed. Concurrently, the Catfishing Expo at the convention center will open its doors at noon, featuring numerous vendors from the outdoor world. Visitors can browse and purchase the latest in apparel, tackle, and gear. Featuring appearances by legendary Angler Bill Dance and “Duck Dynasty's” John Godwin who will both be on hand to meet with the public. You do not want to miss this rare opportunity to see both of these outdoor legends in the same place.

Following Saturday's weigh-in, the top 25 teams will return to the river on Sunday, July 28th, for the final showdown to determine the overall winner. While the first-place team will secure an impressive $100,000, the teams placing 2nd through 10th will split the remaining $100,000.

The Nation’s Premier Monster Catfish Tournament Returns to Memphis for Its Sixth Year

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MEMPHIS, TN, USA--- Along the Mississippi River, there are few regions like the Memphis area that produce giant size catfish. As the story goes, Memphis’s own Bass Pro Shop’s Pyramid was decided on a catfishing trip that included Bass Pro’s founder and owner Johnny Morris and the legend himself, Bill Dance.

 

Shadowed only by the glimmering Bass Pro Pyramid, the country’s premier catfish tournament event, Mississippi River Monsters, will for its sixth year be taking place September 15th through the final tournament day on the 18th. Some of the best catfish anglers from around the country, including Memphis’s own Bill Dance and Duck Dynasty’s John Godwin, will be competing along with hundreds of others for thousands in cash and prizes, a new Tracker Boat, and the title of champion!

 

Each day of the Mississippi River Monsters event offers anglers and spectators a host of activities. The 15th and 16th, anglers that are pre-fishing for the event compete for the biggest fish and a chance to win cash and prizes. On Friday the 17th, the Bass Pro Shop’s Pyramid will host a full afternoon of seminars, where some of the best catfishing experts will provide tips and techniques every angler that enjoys the sport of fishing will want to hear about.  On Saturday, September 18th, it’s on! Competing anglers will be fishing up and down the Mississippi River for huge catfish, with weigh-in starting at 3 PM in the front of the Pyramid.

BILL DANCE AND GEORGE YOUNG, JR TEAM UP TO RETAIN MISSISSIPPI RIVER MONSTERS

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MEMPHIS, TN, USA --- For the last several year’s hundreds of determined and accomplished catfish anglers from around the country have converged on the mighty Mississippi in Memphis Tennessee  to battle for the coveted right to claim their spot as the Mississippi River Monster’s Champion.  With the efforts of George Young, Jr along with the legendary master angler Bill Dance the tradition will continue.

 

“Late last year, we entered into an agreement to assign the rights to our event. After further consideration, the assigned promoters decided to move on to other interests. Thanking them for their great efforts and wishing them the very best, we along with Bill Dance have once again taken the popular Mississippi River Monsters event under our wing.  Moving forward we are committed to making it the best it can be for our fellow anglers, friends and valued sponsors” Stated the events founder, George Young Jr.

 

With a refreshed look, George Young, Jr. is moving forward with renewed energy and dedication to his event. In only a short time he has rallied together area communities and some of the fishing industries true leaders to be part of this great event.  The City of Memphis as well as West Memphis both have added their support matched with organizations such as Bass Pro Shops, Tracker Boats, Bill Dance Outdoors, Mercury Marine, B-n-M fishing, RIGRAP, Quantum, and Millennium Marine, just to name a few, have all jumped in to lend their immediate support.

This year, the Mississippi River Monsters tournament event will take place September 20 and 21.  Starting on the 20th, there will be a number of public seminars that will take place inside at the iconic Bass Pro Shops pyramid, followed by a private gathering of participating anglers, their families and friends that will review the next day’s schedule and procedures. At the evening meet and greet, thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes will be handed out to the hundreds of participants.

 

On the 21st, it is game on as 100 plus teams accounting for hundreds of determined catfish anglers will make their way on to the Mississippi River with the hope of catching several “River Monsters” and win the huge prize package worth tens of thousands of dollars along with the bragging rights to be called a Mississippi River Monster Champion.  The weigh-in and afternoon activities will take place starting at 1pm, Saturday outside of the Bass Pro Shops pyramid facility.  The public is invited to attend.
